| Nano-Tropolis Environment Set: Fire & Rescue |
| This fire and rescue set is part of a series of Nano-Tropolis construction kits that kids can build themselves and then play with. All the model pieces come packed in a hard case that reverses to form a piece of roadway and connect this environment to another Nano-Tropolis systems. A cardboard backdrop with a scene of skyscrapers and trees helps to evoke the urban setting for this particular environment. This set builds a fire station and three emergency response vehiclesa fire engine with a working siren, flashing light, and ladder; an ambulance; and a police car that can be propelled by an included vehicle launcher. The parts are made in the familiar Mega Bloks fashion, which snap together without requiring glue or extra tools. This building system comes with 515 pieces, many of them very small. Although an instruction book with detailed three-dimensional diagrams is included, younger children still may need some help from adults during assembly. --Cristina Vaamonde

| Fire Truck Puzzle |
| This 8.5-by-12-inch natural wood puzzle has a laminated picture of a fully rigged fire truck, along with a faithful dalmatian, waiting for the next alarm. There are nine large puzzle pieces in this set, each with an attached red peg to make it easier for little hands to lift the pieces out of the frame. | Home Depot Wooden Vehicle Model Kit: Fire Engine |
| If it's true that food always tastes better when you cook it yourself, then this old-fashioned build-it-yourself old-fashioned fire engine from Home Depot might be proportionately more fun than the average toy. Nearly everything is needed to complete the process as the kit comes complete with pre-cut wood pieces, wood screws, and a screw driver. Clearly explained instructions help you complete the job with relative ease. No paint is included with the set. One might wonder how good a job a fire engine made out of wood might actually perform at a real live fire but as a toy and a fun project, this is a great choice. --Charlie Williams
